Bobby Flay's Thanksgiving
Calling Thanksgiving "hands-down my favorite holiday," chef and television personality Bobby Flay gets pretty excited about planning the annual feast. And with so much Turkey Day experience—Flay's Bar Americain in midtown Manhattan serves Thanksgiving dinner annually—he was happy to share some of his treasured dishes and professional expertise. Using recipes from the recently published Bobby Flay's Bar Americain Cookbook, Flay put together an exquisite but completely doable menu featuring Herb Roasted Turkey; Sourdough hong kong avenue of stars, Wild Mushroom, and Bacon Dressing; Sweet Potato Gratin; Creamed Kale with Crispy Shallots; Cranberry, Fig, and Pinot Noir Chutney; and Pumpkin Bread Pudding with Spicy Caramel Apple Sauce.
With so many delectable dishes on the menu, Flay recommends keeping your hors d'oeuvres simple: "I prefer people to save their appetite for the main event." Don't go overboard; just offer a few easy nibbles to keep guests satisfied. A white bean dip served with pita is a perfect example.
